HandiWALL® Install Guide

Materials Needed

HandiWALL® Slatwall panels
Screws
Screwdriver or drill
Level
Measuring tape
Stud finder
Saw (if panels need to be cut to size)
Safety goggles
Pencil

Preparation

Measure out the width and height of the wall area where you plan to install the HandiWALL® slatwall panels. This will help you determine how many panels will be used and if any need to be cut to size.

Next with your stud finder locate where the strongest areas on the wall are and mark them with your pencil. These are the ideal spots for where to screw your HandiWALL® panels into.

Step 1: Cut Panels (If Necessary)

If the panels need to be cut to size then measure and mark cutting lines. Wear safety goggles and use a saw to cut the panels to the desired size.

Step 2: Install The First Panel

Start at the bottom area where you want to install your slatwalls. Position the first panel against the wall, making sure it is level. Drive screws through the slats of the panel and into the wall studs.

Step 3: Align Trim

After securing the first HandiWALL® panel, proceed to install the trim around its perimeter. This trim will not only enhance the appearance of your HandiWALL® system but also serve as a guide for aligning the edges of subsequent panels.

Step 4: Continue To Stack And Screw

Align the next panel above the first one, ensuring the tongues and grooves align and fit snug. Repeat the screwing process, securing the panel to the wall studs.

Step 5: Finish Bordering Rest Of HandiWALL® With Trim

Once all panels are in place, finish by applying the remaining trim around the perimeter of the HandiWALL® system. This final touch will give your installation a polished and finished appearance, completing the overall look of your HandiWALL® slatwall system.

Tips + Tricks

  • When installing multiple HandiWALL® slatwalls side by side, you can use Division Molding HandiTRIM to mask the seams in between the slatwalls. You can also use caulk for a different aesthetic approach.

  • To achieve the HandiWALL® max weight load of 100lbs/sq. ft., drive screws into each slot and into each wall stud.

  • For an installation that will have a light carrying load, you can substitute screws for construction adhesive products such as Liquid Nails. For extra strength, you can use Liquid Nails along with your screws.

  • Use Handi Color Strips if you want to completely conceal screws. These come in all HandiWALL® colors, as well as red, orange, yellow, and blue.
